## Domestic electricians who treat your home with respect
Having an electrician in your home is personal. You want someone who turns up when they say they will, explains things clearly, keeps the place tidy and leaves you with work that is safe and properly certified. Trace Electrical Ltd is a NICEIC approved electrical contractor based in Loughton, looking after homeowners and landlords across Essex and East London.

We are a small team led by Ben Skingsley, so you deal with the same people from the first visit to the final certificate. All work is designed, installed and tested to BS 7671, the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, and notifiable work is registered so you have the paperwork you need when you sell, remortgage or let the property.

## Domestic electrical services we provide
From a single faulty switch to a full house rewire, the work we do for homeowners includes:

- Full and part rewires: whole-house and partial rewires, planned around how you are living in the property during the work.
- Consumer unit upgrades: replacing old fuse boxes with modern RCBO boards that isolate a fault to a single circuit.
- EV charger installation: OZEV-approved home chargepoints, and we are an accredited Rolec installer.
- EICRs and landlord certificates: Electrical Installation Condition Reports and Landlord Electrical Safety Certificates by a City & Guilds 2391 tester.
- Home automation and smart homes: lighting, heating and control systems specified around how you actually use the house.
- Fault finding: tracing tripping circuits and intermittent faults to their source rather than guessing.
- Home data cabling: Cat6 cabling for reliable Wi-Fi, home offices and entertainment systems.
- Sockets, lighting and outdoor power: extra sockets, new lighting, garden power and outdoor heaters.

## What to expect when you book us
Every job starts with a conversation. For small jobs we can often give you a price over the phone or on the day. For larger work such as a rewire, consumer unit upgrade or smart home installation we arrange a free, no-obligation site visit, look at the existing installation, and talk through what you want from the finished result.

You then receive a fixed written quote so you know what the work will cost before anything starts. We agree dates, discuss which rooms will be affected and when, and on rewires we plan the work so you are not left without power for longer than necessary.

On site we protect floors and furniture, keep the work area tidy and clear up at the end of every day. Customers on Checkatrade have said our team were "very tidy and the work is done to a very good standard" and that we "arrived on time and dealt with the issue very promptly and professionally". Once the work is finished it is fully tested and you receive the relevant certificate.

## Is your home's wiring due a check?
Electrical installations wear out. Older rubber or fabric insulated cables, fuse boxes with rewireable fuses, scorch marks around sockets, lights that flicker, or a board that trips without obvious reason are all signs the installation needs looking at. An EICR is the simplest way to find out where you stand: we test the circuits, record what we find and give each issue a clear code so you know what is urgent and what can wait.

Landlords in England need a valid electrical safety report for their rented properties, and we carry out landlord EICRs across our area. If remedial work is needed we quote for it separately, so you can make an informed decision.

## Rewires, consumer units and upgrades
If your wiring is old, or you are renovating, extending or knocking through, a full or partial rewire is often the most sensible long-term choice. It is far easier to do before plastering and decorating, so we are happy to work alongside your builder and other trades. One rewire customer said we "help with design ideas and foreseeing potential problems before they arose" and that the job "finished on programme and within budget".

A consumer unit upgrade is one of the most effective safety improvements for an older home. Modern RCBO boards mean a fault on one circuit does not plunge the whole house into darkness, and the board is easier to understand and maintain.

## EV chargers and smart homes
If you have an electric car, or are planning to get one, a dedicated home chargepoint is safer and quicker than charging from a three-pin plug. We check your supply and board first, then install and certify the charger. As an OZEV-approved and accredited Rolec installer, we can tell you whether any grant is available for your circumstances.

For smart homes we design lighting scenes, heating control and automation around the way you live rather than around a particular brand, and leave the system set up and explained so you can use it confidently from day one.

## Areas we cover
We work across Loughton, Harlow, Epping, Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill, Woodford Green, Waltham Abbey, Chingford, Walthamstow, Ilford, Romford and Brentwood, as well as wider East London. Not sure if you are in our area? Just ask.
